The control system currently in use was built for the Appenzeller Bahn in 2010. Since then, two redundant servers have ensured the reliable operation of the catenary, point heating, and lighting control systems. After more than ten years, the equipment at the Herisau operations center needed to be replaced. The Appenzeller Bahn selects the desired hardware for this project itself. We are replacing the control system and upgrading it to the latest state of the art. The existing logic will be fully retained. This helps save costs, as it also eliminates the need for staff training.
